Downgrade your iPhone

With these!

iPhone + sticker

old school look

how about some nokia?

this is so late 90s.

You know what phone they should do? The ericsson 688. Back then it was everywhere. The ah bengs, being the low class no style asshos that they are, mod the phone to include LED lights.

klassic

But the LEDs take up so much juice from those batteries they they have to charge their phone like every minute. Remember back then you have to buy special batteries judt to have the vibrate function? ahhhh those were the days...

Levis + scanner + us + engineered jeans

10 years ago, Levis bought out a giant scanner and scanned Takuya Kimura.

so sexseh it hurts

Now, for their 10th anniversary, we reminisce and look back at the engineered jeans. Like I mentioned in the other post, due to unforseen circumstances, the engineered jeans went to the bargain bins real quick. Shuyi got herself a pair back then.

The push button closure, the thread outline of the tab (where is the leather tab?), the funny seam lines that runs from the sides to the front and most noticeably, the specially cut ends with the higher heels. The engineered jeans was quite an innovation, even by today's standards.

I did not get a pair back then (a bit of regret there) back then because to me, the engineered jeans don't seem to work for tall people. Honest. But i've seen shorter dudes rock it to great effect. Those short and stout dudes. Kinda like the dwarf in Golden Axe (inside joke).

Who could forget the ad back then where Takuya (yea the dude who sprays stuff on his nipples on Gatsby ads) walks around a perform some acrobatic moves at great ease, showcasing the non restrictive aspects of the engineered jeans. Man that was so stylish. Can't find the ad anywhere. Anyone?

Then we start seeing all the flatbed scanner posters in all shopping malls, most notably the tall lanky girl, clad only in her jeans, cupping her boobs with her hands. C'mon, you remember that one.

So, in the spirit of such a fantastic ad campaign, we did our own flatbed scanner picture. Being homeuse consumers, we only have an a3 sized scanner which I got in a buy-my-shit-as-i-am-moving-out-of-hall sale almost 7 years back at $30. The scanner still works great.

For these shots, you must open the scanner top and scan. The room must be dark, else the background will not be black. So here we are, palms on the scanner in the living room with all lights switched off. Even the TV. Lomantik!

Nike Air Trainer I

A few years back, due to the influence of a good friend, I sudden got interested in sneakers. I was on a terribly low budget and some of the hype dunks were so ugly to me. While everyone was looking at the Nike Dunks, Air Force I, Air Max etc, I found myself loving the Air Trainer I. So I got myself two pairs. One grey and green with pink accents in an argyle design and another in full leather. They were so stylish (at least I thought so) and so comfy. From the hi-cut design to the strap across the toe box, there was nothing boring yet too outlandish about the sneaker.

But there is one thing you should know about Nike shoe. They last as long as a fart. And when they fail, they fail catastrophically.

The first one died during my pre wedding shoot at the NTU alumni club.

died-ed!

The premiums died on me this week. My favorite sneaker of all time.

RIP AirTrainer I Premium

Why can't they do shoes like asics?

LV spring

The multi coloured LV monogram design is a pretty fresh take on the classic design but i'd rather fancy the traditional ones. Or even the watercolour series.

Stuff like these are things you buy when you're gathered the classic design and want something else, in my point of view. But then again, unless you're very rich, after you are done with the classics, you should be pretty broke already.

If you feel the need to know whatever LV pushes out, check here.

make you own Hermes Kelly bag

Times are bad. Time to take things into your own hands.

3 simple steps. Cut, fold & glue. If you're really into it, it should be possible to implement using stiff cloth like denim.

The end product should look like this:

it you're a friggin craftsman.

Like this

if you're an art & crafts person.

Why is it called Kelly? Which kelly are we talking about? Well, this kelly. Grace Kelly.

she used it to hide her baby lumps when she was pregnant

You know grace kelly. We adore her wedding gown which we modeled (copied shamelessly) shuyi's after.

things that makes you go ohhhhh...

Sometimes, you chance across stuff that makes you go ohhhhhh i see... Well here is one:

Mr Sopheap Pich's rattan. When did I first saw it? Here.

esplanade 2008

We were at the Esplanade for our pre-wedding shoot. Though we know nothing about what the piece meant, it was truly a fantastic piece of art. Never would you have imagine that rattan can be used to form such fluid designs.

''Much of Pich’s work focuses on the current changes in Cambodia society as well as the serious health problems, embodied in his human organ shaped rattan sculptures.''

so says the net.

ohhhhhh... organ

We thought it is a very big hair or something. Lingzi perhaps?
