Punggol: pre-wedding

Back in 2008, I mentioned that there is a time where walking down beaches in wedding gowns, drawing heart shapes in the sand and piggybacking each other suddenly became something normal to do.

That time is during the pre-wedding shoot.

_-3-13
such a sweet couple

To make my point very clear, here we go:

walking down the beach in gown/suit

_-41
to the left, to the left

drawing heart shapes in the sand

_-4-11
dude doing the charlie chaplin ass tilt to great effect

piggyback

_-2-14
thats sunny on the left. say hi!

But why Punggol? I mean Sentosa beach is easily a better choice. Better sand, no container ships in the background, nice coconut trees, clearer water... the list could go on. The only reason is the lack of crowds. But your assistant can do some crowd control no?

wedding photos

They are finally here.

Actually we got em a while back. Anyway, here is the final product.

The album came in an open-up box. There was another preview album which came in an even bigger box.

女王 day

3 July is 女王 day. I dragged shuyi out of bed and we rushed to our first location. Chinatown. Being the auntie that she is, shuyi kept asking me where I was bringing her.

10a.m was too early to check into the hotel. Too early for lunch. It is too cumbersome to shop considering we were lugging around lots of stuff. Where are we going?

When girls come of age, they grow hair at funny places and find boys not so annoying anymore. They start to dress up and most of them did a makeover shoot.

Admit it. You did one too. Shuyi didn't.

Shuyi realized what was going to happen when we climbed up the stairs towards the studio. Yes, we're doing a photoshoot. There she was, just moisturizer and blusher, going for a photoshoot. But that's what surprises are. You don't prepare for 'em. My wife's pretty enough as it is anyway.

After the shoot, we checked into the Sheraton and I unwillingly went to work for a couple of hours. Shuyi stayed in the room and played with the props for the photo shoot.

够了 & 不够

Does this photo reminds you of

this photo?

no? how about

like this?

They really made themselves at home.

what's taking the room service so long?!

Other than the shoot and the hotel stay, nothing else was planned. We picked The Central for dinner and ended up at the place shuyi has 20% off. We did some shopping and headed for the movies.

We saw that shop in Central. We had to do this.

like last time(s)

Upon consulting imdb, we were led to believe that Drag Me to Hell is a decent movie considering that it has a seldom seen rating of 7.9. We decided to watch the movie because shuyi's favourite movie genure is horror. The horror. I hate horror movies.

some arcade before the movies
hey it's a new KOF. i had to try

All I can say is, the rating is freakin' rigged. The show is terrible. Using those BOOOO! techniques for horror is like a kick in the nuts. Haven't they seen the Ring?
'hey why is the TV on? A well? oh? something's moving... OMG OMG OMG nuuuuuu!'

yes. That scene is the scariest shit ever.

Back to the hotel!

Anyway, Sheraton was kind enough to give us a complementry cake and fruit basket just cos shuyi is pretty. No la. Because it's her birthday.

free!

fruit 'basket' in the foreground
don't be a bitch. it's free.

It came with this card...

you open the envelope, and pull out

and then

Our hearts missed a beat.

omg! They knew about it!

Oh wait! There's more!

geee. thanks.

birdcage bags

Birdcages should not be used to house birds! Here is a better application for them.

milan based collective carnovsky comprised of francesco rugi and silvia quintanilla have sent in the images of their new bag collection named 'artificialia' birdcage bag. hand made in italy by artisans, 'artificialia' bags are made of natural materials such as wood, rattan, silk, velvet, leather and tagua seeds from south america. bags are lacquered with bright colors.

the bird never made it

have the japanese lacquered wood bento box feel

my favorite of the lot. this could actually work

another good use of birdcages from the wedding

things that makes you go ohhhhh...

Sometimes, you chance across stuff that makes you go ohhhhhh i see... Well here is one:

Mr Sopheap Pich's rattan. When did I first saw it? Here.

esplanade 2008

We were at the Esplanade for our pre-wedding shoot. Though we know nothing about what the piece meant, it was truly a fantastic piece of art. Never would you have imagine that rattan can be used to form such fluid designs.

''Much of Pich’s work focuses on the current changes in Cambodia society as well as the serious health problems, embodied in his human organ shaped rattan sculptures.''

so says the net.

ohhhhhh... organ

We thought it is a very big hair or something. Lingzi perhaps?

sleepy yi

While traveling to and fro between our homes during our wedding, shuyi did what she always does while on any form of transportation: she sleep. She sleeps so much on transportation that I have a permanent imprint of the side profile of her face on my shoulder.

I signaled my brother's car (who was ferrying my photog) to take the picture. Gilbert used it as the cover pict for the preview album.

slaying the dragon

Back in 08, I found this really old playground to take some of our wedding photos. The results were fantastic (at least we thought so).

But now they are going to slay the dragon! Do you really wanna do that? These playgrounds, though no so old as those temples and old shop houses, really mean something to the X gen people who grew up hanging out at these playgrounds.

happier times :)

the colours are tacky but charming at the same time

do you really wanna hurt me?

i love that hair!

totally drunk

I grabbed her and dragged my fingers across her forehead and said 'I like your hair'. Well that's what they say I did. I don't remember shit. First time in my life I got so drunk. But if getting drink involves me grabbing shuyi's friend and making fun of their hairstyle, I'm still pretty safe.

Can you sense the tension in Aileen?

thats why we love her so much

Marc Jacob engaged

Honey, you forgot to shave!

I hope Marc does a Dennis Rodman on their wedding day. It was pretty cool for a NBA star back then. Ain't nobody gonna be evil on them. Have you seen Dennis Rodman? He'll pull out his rod and slap you around for a bit.

'i do! i do!'

wedding

Went for the wedding of Chris and... and... em... and the bride. I don't know everyone ok! It's a small gathering of sorts with

caryn & shaun

raaj & leslie

I did not catch Amanda & Thomas though. Pardon the grainy pictures. I refused to use flash and instead chose to up the ISO to krazi levels.

important wedding photographer tip. husband blurry? fine. must see the pretty bride. she's so pretty.

shotglass with a wedding theme in a romantically drunk kinda way

So we spent the evening talking catching up, talking about funny food, leslie's la subb experience involving a masseuse and lots of oil and even more grinding.

Wedding: Vic & Flo

Attended Florence's wedding at Orchard Hotel. First time I've been to the hotel for a banquet. It has this nice big ballroom with high ceiling and no obstruction. So no matter where you're seated, you can see everything.

I toyed with the camera, opting out flash and trying to fiddle with the aperture mode. The photos turned out pretty darn noisy. Try not to blow up the pic. Keep it this size. My apologies.

See the arm on the left? I accidentally cropped her out of the picture. Super embarrassing. Don't hate me please!
