walk walk

Keep on walking.

Let the missus flag off the walking with a pose.

shuyi was inspired by the cam hos and reckon you're never too old to learn

And in Zara, I saw this jacket that reminds me of that jacket.

so in love

mommy? Can i?

I practiced incredible (colossal. ok maybe herculean even) restrain on my part and peeled off the jacket and walked out. Got... to... wait for the... sale...

But a part of me is telling myself that this jacket won't be put on sale cos it is so damn nice. The battles I have to fight...

camera bag

Finally. The 40D has a (mobile) home.

Isn't it a beauty? Such retro cool colourways. Canvas straps, brass hardware and leather lining.

Beige, tan and forest green... so classic.

Just big enough for 1 body, a lens and a flash. All I need.

All the finer details.

女王 day

3 July is 女王 day. I dragged shuyi out of bed and we rushed to our first location. Chinatown. Being the auntie that she is, shuyi kept asking me where I was bringing her.

10a.m was too early to check into the hotel. Too early for lunch. It is too cumbersome to shop considering we were lugging around lots of stuff. Where are we going?

When girls come of age, they grow hair at funny places and find boys not so annoying anymore. They start to dress up and most of them did a makeover shoot.

Admit it. You did one too. Shuyi didn't.

Shuyi realized what was going to happen when we climbed up the stairs towards the studio. Yes, we're doing a photoshoot. There she was, just moisturizer and blusher, going for a photoshoot. But that's what surprises are. You don't prepare for 'em. My wife's pretty enough as it is anyway.

After the shoot, we checked into the Sheraton and I unwillingly went to work for a couple of hours. Shuyi stayed in the room and played with the props for the photo shoot.

够了 & 不够

Does this photo reminds you of

this photo?

no? how about

like this?

They really made themselves at home.

what's taking the room service so long?!

Other than the shoot and the hotel stay, nothing else was planned. We picked The Central for dinner and ended up at the place shuyi has 20% off. We did some shopping and headed for the movies.

We saw that shop in Central. We had to do this.

like last time(s)

Upon consulting imdb, we were led to believe that Drag Me to Hell is a decent movie considering that it has a seldom seen rating of 7.9. We decided to watch the movie because shuyi's favourite movie genure is horror. The horror. I hate horror movies.

some arcade before the movies
hey it's a new KOF. i had to try

All I can say is, the rating is freakin' rigged. The show is terrible. Using those BOOOO! techniques for horror is like a kick in the nuts. Haven't they seen the Ring?
'hey why is the TV on? A well? oh? something's moving... OMG OMG OMG nuuuuuu!'

yes. That scene is the scariest shit ever.

Back to the hotel!

Anyway, Sheraton was kind enough to give us a complementry cake and fruit basket just cos shuyi is pretty. No la. Because it's her birthday.

free!

fruit 'basket' in the foreground
don't be a bitch. it's free.

It came with this card...

you open the envelope, and pull out

and then

Our hearts missed a beat.

omg! They knew about it!

Oh wait! There's more!

geee. thanks.

pre 女王 day

2 Jul is pre 女王 day.

We went Orchard to get some stuff done and we saw this.

Some snotty invite-only event at LV Ion.

snotty

I'm sure the shop is impeccably furnished. But the half built exterior of the Ion kind makes it look strange. And I just read that the glass facade of the shop is kinda like a big deal. It's like this huge glass curtain hanging from the roof. Wavy some more. ohhhhh. Urban said something to the effect of 'LV paris also don't have ok!'

yea. they don't have. so?

But you've gotta admit: LV got the prime spot here. LVMH don't play play ok.

Here is how it looks at night. Do you know what this means? The people queueing up for LV have to queue up in the open! Like some goddamn hello kitty queues. Are we still talking about ultra branded products here?

them metal sculptures are really nice
you bring one home and put a glass top on it to make this super pimp coffee table

Prada got a crap spot. Still outside with a huge facade but with this sore thumb of a pillar smack in the face. The irony is, the sweet spot (LV) and the sore location (Prada) is a mere 10 metres apart.

Miuccia Prada 0 - Bernard Arnault 1

I placed a dude there to let you understand how big that pain in the ass pillar is.

winner

We picked up some 1/2 priced sushi at Isetan and proceed to the McCafe outside for supper. Shuyi was dressed very sombre today as one of our ex-college mate passed away.

She was a the girl everyone made fun off. I did not personally know her but she was quite infamous so I know who she was. I shouldn't feel much for her passing but I did. It makes you realise that life is very unpredictable. One more thing to learn from this is, don't have fun at the expense of others just because everybody else does it. If they deserve it, then ok la. At times like this, you'll be glad that you were kind to them. If you were terrible to them for no reason other than just being evil and still don't feel any regret, maybe you really ARE evil. Rest in peace.

Back at home, we packed up for 女王 day. The whole thing was meant as a surprise but I made shuyi pack her cheongsum telling her that we're going some place porsh for dinner. I packed my suit.

Lies! I didn't even wear a suit for our dinner at Iggy's. I honestly don't think I'll ever eat a more expensive meal ever.

The suit was meant for...

stay tuned

UNIQLO on sale

Just a gentle modest one. *slap* Calm down. Don't go all crazy.

Went to UNIQLO to get some basics wear like tees and polos. Turns out that they were on sale. The crowd there thinned down to a reasonable level, unlike when it first opened.

Some of the staff needs more training though. When asked what makes their selvage denim different from their normal ones, I was told that selvage denim have the frays and are harder. omg. So far from the truth.

Selvage denim (also called selvedge denim) is a type of denim which forms a clean natural edge that does not unravel. It is commonly presented in the unwashed or raw state. Typically, the selvage edges will be located along the out-seam of the pants, making it visible when cuffs are worn. Although selvage denim is not completely synonymous with unwashed denim, the presence of selvage typically implies that the denim used is a higher quality.

The word "selvage" comes from the phrase "self-edge", the natural edge of a roll of fabric. As applied to denim, it means that which is made on old-style shuttle looms. These looms weave fabric with one continuous cross thread (the weft) that is passed back and forth all the way down the length of the bolt. As the weft loops back into the edge of the denim it creates this “self-edge” or Selvage. Selvage is desirable because the edge can’t fray like lower grade denims that have separate wefts which leave an open edge that must be stitched. Shuttle looming is a more time-consuming weaving process that produces denim of a tighter weave resulting in a heavier weight fabric that lasts.

In response to increased demand for jeans in the 1950's, American denim manufacturers replaced the old shuttle style looms with modern projectile looms. The new looms produced fabric faster and wider (60-inches or wider), though lighter and less durable. Synthetic dyeing techniques along with post-dye treatments were introduced to control shrink and twist.

learn, bitches. Don't try to smoke me lar abang.

And they got agyness deyn for the ads?

we're not albino. look at our brows

they should have cut cost and went with some lesser known Japanese models. Cuter, cheaper, more kimochi and more true to the Jap feel. Maybe their going in another direction. How about Ayumi? We know she does ads very well.

ahme-what? Ahme-somewhere-in-india-dabad. Against my advise to stay in, shuyi braved the hot and dusty weather to find cheap shopping. Unwavering determination.
