that 曖昧 feel

A stroll through East Coast Park brings back so much memories.

Remember back in the days during your teens when you had your first relationship? That shy feeling? In mandarin, we call it 曖昧. It is one of those words that the english dictionary cannot really define... Don't believe? One site on the net describes it as vague / ambiguous / equivocal / dubious.

You laugh! But can you do better?

Anyway, I have fond memories of walking hand in hand down ECP with shuyi 10 years ago. We used to pitch tent and laze around, cycle on the tandem bike up and down the stretch and have picnics near the beach.

So instead of going to town for food and shopping, it is refreshing to take a hike back to the good 'ol times.

But first, must go metro redeem some free gifts.

freebies: auntie's best friend

I had to be so dumb as to point out to shuyi that there is a pigeon lying along the pavement. Shuyi immediately diagnosed that the bird is hurt/abandoned and required her immediate attention.

security guard: i'll just walk away now...
shuyi: come to momma!
bird: i'm so dead!

where you think you're going. huh?

life flashed by it's beady lil eye

I had a hard time convincing shuyi that we should just put it back. Shuyi made me promise her that we would come back when we come home to see if it is still around. If it is, we'll take it home.

Anyway, at the marine parade hawker center, we had the famous Apollo fried kway tiao. omg kimochii! Too bad the beef noodle stall was closed for the day. Those beef noodles is the best! I get so excited when I go to these old hawker centers.

ECP was quite pack due to the long NDP holidays. The weather was perfect. Nice cool (not cold) wind blew relentlessly. We walked towards the Macdonalds direction where all the action is at. You go the other direction if you want to find some place to make out.

Near Macdonalds, there were the usual funfair that you probably can't find in Singapore anymore. Remember the days when they have funfair games, TopGun rides, candy floss etc? You actually have to buy tickets to play the games?

attack of the elmos. scary eh?

don't these bring back memories?
and the annoying stickers people stick everywhere

shuyi practicing the pout

Further down, we stopped for a rest and had some ice cream. When I was young, marine parade used to be this happening place where families like to hang out. There was one of the first Anderson ice cream stall at the shopping mall and I had many fond memories of picking my ice cream.

gimme my fix yo

There were lotsa things going on (other than the usual monkey business) that night. Even street soccer. A very nice setup whereby the courts are brightly lit, the families of the players are sitting around and cheering and having a good time.

#10 was going berserk

We finally found a spot to sit down and shuyi played suduku and we chatted while the auroma of bbq food drifted over from the pit behind us.

To end things off, here is a very nice song that kinda describes the mood.
