Merry X'mas

Shuyi likes to exercise when she is abroad. So I got her a companion to job along with her. Pre-loaded with some songs. To add a touch of fun, I sang and recorded a song inside. With the shuffle mode on, the song might just suddenly show up one day...

the packaging was so simple and clean

Oh. And I recycled the wrapping paper + ribbon from the bodyshop gift she received. For someone who don't really do wrapping, I thought I did pretty good.

I cooked us dinner and we sang some KTV via youtube. I'm not one to believe in any X'mas spirit. But the rainy X'mas period is always special to me as I fondly remember the days when I was wooing shuyi right before NS. Good memories. Very nostelgic.

Merry X'mas everyone!

Here is an update on QiQi.

大上海

We finally found the occasion to go to 大上海. Shuyi have always wanted to do our wedding banquet there as she loves the decor and the Shanghai live music there. But alas, the place is so small we could never fit everyone.

The food was good and the 10% service/entertainment charge was well worth it. We stayed for around 3 hours. Nice ambiance, good food, relaxing entertainment, great company... makes for a fantastic evening.

The place

they got these 2 blade fans(not in picture) that is spinning idly at this nonsense pace. not useful but certainly added a nice relaxing touch to the place. Green Chinese lanterns, soft incandescent yellow light, huge cabaret style sofas... they all add up to one hell of a theme.

The singer and the 3 piece jazz band is the main draw. There were 2 singers that night. Both good in their own way.

The food

soaked peanuts in sweet soy sauce with chopped dried chili produced surprisingly good effect

frozen pork jelly: terrific if you love porky taste and you're not afraid to down pig fats. yum

prawn fried with salted egg yoke: kimochii

note: number of folds undefined. lose to 鼎泰豐

fried pig knuckles. you don't wanna get punched by this pig

we also ordered stir fried chinese 年糕 and 锅贴。Too busy eating to take pictures.

The company

we talked a lot of shit while shuyi snapped away

some camera crew was there

so was Sun Ho.

even the menu smells good

we got on stage for a pic

my ah peh cufflinks glittered brilliantly in the soft glow of the restaurant

we love em green lanterns

'oh? what's this? a wedding?'

do you know what that means? free parking lor! thanks jason & candice!

we went to check out their ballroom

oh hong seh was there too

our first official dinner @ home

Shuyi just came back from her flight and I cooked our first ever dinner at home. Wasn't much, just a mini steamboat dinner.

tuck in!

afterthoughts

First weekend together alone.

MaxOnline decided not to start work so soon.
Shuyi got activated and flew off in the morning.
Downstairs doing some construction.
I'm pretty close to 'downstairs'.
Somehow the school downstairs looks empty but got children's sounds.
I'm pretty close to 'downstairs'.

Damn it. Screw you guys, I'm going home.

clutches

Shuyi's beloved Liz Claiborne clutch met with an unfortunate accident at a wedding. Something that involves genuine soft leather and coke.

Not pretty.

But it was lucky that a good friend came to her rescue.

B.Care!

I thought the leather was ruined. In the end, it turned out pretty ok and ultra moisturized. B.care cost less than half of what you get at Aldo. I walked from Raffles city to the Bata shop near Funan for this. Throw in some make up sponge at the shop next to it and we saved the leather.

I also presented her with another oversized clutch to add to her small collection.

no crocodiles were harmed(too expensive to harm them)

The local brothers did a good job with this one. Stealing classic looks and details from all the right places. Truely a budget way to style.

almost time for wedding...

... time to pack up and go

stowaway bride

a case of what could have been...

... 8 years later

While we were unpacking our stuff in our new house, I chanced across this moschino toiletries giftbox. There is a soap and a few bottles of other stuff (not impt. get with the story). The soap says:

moschino loves you

you know that ad campaign was ages ago. Anyway, when I took it out, it shows...

i don't. lame lor assho

Now, normal girls would simply use the soap eventually and get to see the message. But not this auntie. Pweety stuff, she'll never use except for special occasions which never comes. So this year 2000 message finally got delivered in 2008. Good job genius.

And I hate it when asshos like to tacke girls when their boyfriends are in army. Have some diginity yea?

ROM Appointment

Went for the appointment at ROM to get the cert for the actual ROM. so mafan!

bad aiming. shuyi struggling

Registry o' Ages

terrible timing by the dude in yellow.

ROM@waterfall

"can you speak louder? very noisy!"

Sheraton has allowed us to do the solemnization at the waterfall for free! Now it's not about the waterfall that is fantastic. It is because it is free. Free stuff are always nice.

Parra x The Perfect Unison Headphones

Now I'm more of a earphone kinda person. But this is way cool.

"Dutch artist Parra has produced a set pf headphones with label The Perfect Unison. The headset takes the form of skate decks made of Finnish birch by David Burel. Having only a thickness if 1.2 mm allows the lightweight headphones proper flexibility with impeccable sound quality."

Looks kinda Ikea-ish to me.
