shuyi 7.80

The birthday present that failed to materialize.

Ian told me about etsy.com which is a pretty cool website. It's like this ebay of home made stuff. Handmade soaps, beautiful craved boxes, jewellery, knitten stuff etc. But there is one fantastic function that made it great: customization. You can bacially put down ads for things you want to be made. Anyone can pick up your job and send you a proposal. If you down with it, it's on.

Too bad my first experience with etsy.com sucked. As we did not get the 2.55 for cheap in London due to the 20% price hike (Karl! you bastard!), I decided to ask someone to knit one for her. It will be a unique bag with her name and everything. Everything is to be knit, save for a magnetic clasp.

I drew out a blueprint and put my design for bidding. I ended up with giollotadesigns (mega bitch) whose bid was actually on the high side. Going by the mantra of 'you get what you paid' I decided to deal with her.

The agreement was done months in advance. I kept emailing her but the reply will take weeks. Then when time drew closer to the dateline, we started correspondence. Anyway, long story short, though she claimed that we have more than enough time, she did not finish it in time. And came out with all kinds of excuses to blame me.

Anyway, enough of bitchin'. Here are how it would have looked like

the chain (the metal chain, not the metal + leather type)
I wanted to do a 2.55, not a classic flap.

The burgundy inner liner which will feature the 3D CC logo and 'shuyi 7.80'

The thread for the bag

The clasp which will have a magnetic clasp sewn in.

It would have been great. But shuyi ended up presentless for this years birthday. Now I know why Americans hate Canadians so much. Sorry wifey.
