1/2 day off with the wife

Took half a day off to spend time with shuyi.

IMG_7244

This is Jailbird. I walked home one afternoon for lunch and saw dad carrying qiqi, standing beside a car at the void deck.

'come quick' my dad waved to me

When I approached him, I realise that there is a yellow lovebird perched on top of a MPV. Dad spotted the lovebird but couldn't catch it as he was carrying qiqi. So he guarded it till I came back. I grabbed the bird and stuffed it in a box. time for lunch. Secretly putting it into the cage at home, I casually suggested shuyi to check on the birds. Her reaction upon finding the new bird was less than ideal. :O/

We named it Jailbird because it broke out of a cage and it is a bird (surely you've realised it by now). Anyway, today we went to uncle Jimmy and get a sex partner mate for Jailbird.

IMG_7246
uncle Jimmy's is right at the door stop of my alma mater.

We had dinner with the folks and ah xuan decided to go hyper and do her take on Tigger.

IMG_7257
roaarrr!

IMG_7256

IMG_7264
boing boing boing

We then went to the city hall area. On our way back home, we walked past the food court behind Hotel Rendezvous. What this? A mexican store in a food court? The dude was playing some toy to pass time.

IMG_7287

Shuyi had a go as well.

IMG_7289

we bought margarita and chilli con carne. We just had dinner but I simply cannot pass on interesting food. So supper came real early. They had pineapple chili and normal lime margarita. We sampled both and went with pineapple chilli. Nice.

IMG_7291
the wife worked while the husband kept himself busy with the toy
now that's teamwork!

Suntec fun

After covering a wedding in the first half of the day, I went to Suntec and saw

Fat kids wannabe fight.

IMG_8068
ok. clean fight. no flirting, no grabass. Go!!

Pardon the poor quality pics. I was dead tired from the wedding shoot I didn't bother to use the flash. And I am also dead sick of editing from editing pictures from the said wedding shoot that I never did edit these pics.

IMG_8070
who you calling skinny? huh?!

IMG_8072
oui! no groin grabbing!

IMG_8074
whose the bitch now? say it!

Moving up, there is a

OTAKU COSPLAY FESTIVAL!

All kinds of weirdos were there.

IMG_8085
trust me: this is the most normal ones around already

IMG_8087
traumatising

The One Piece crew. The character with the blue hair? The girl was prancing around in a speedo. That takes guts.

IMG_8090

This is the most pretentious pair around. They simply sat there. Yeah. Just sat there and gave the i'm so kute look.

IMG_8093
yes children, use and abuse em.

IMG_8098
karaoke-siao girls

Amongst all the girls there. Non is as cute as this one. She really worked the look.

IMG_8104
any questions?

This one takes the prize for most emo.

IMG_8105
all she did was sit motionless there

Ok I don't know which anime this character came from but all she did was sit there and eat while staring blankly into air.

IMG_8107

And this dude. I have nothing to say about him.

IMG_8108

But the most disturbing of the lot has got to be this one.

IMG_8106
stuff nightmares are made of

IMG_8109
nothing can out stare this thing

don't get to close... you don't know what it can do

IMG_8110

IMG_8111

Finally a normal one.

IMG_8113

IMG_8114

After that, shuyi cheong all the sales in the convention halls and i sat outside on the carpet trying not to fall asleep.

wow.

Is this gay?
Is this uber?

Probably a little of both.

What kind of boredom drives 3 men into donning tights and catching notebooks with the ass? I don't know and I don't wanna know.

想和你去吹吹风

This version of the MTV is infinitely better than the fish market version.

Ever wonder why the older folks still sing the same old songs after decades? I got a feeling I'm gonna find out first hand real soon...

the OC

Finally. A day we can just hang out. We went to the OC. Do we really need another mall?

IMG_7202

We started from the top down. There is a sky garden on the top. Nothing special.

We used to go to the sky garden on top of Suntec City and there was once the security have to spot us sitting in the dark with his torch and drive us out. Shuyi, do you remember?

Anyway. Shuyi commented that she used to know almost all the flowers by their common and scientific names 2 years ago. Now they are all 花.

IMG_7183
白花

紫花

IMG_7192
有蜜蜂的花

The OC was not fully filled up yet but most of the FnB outlets are already up and running. They seemed to be the only stores being filled up with customers.

There are different names and themes for different floors. One of the floors have this industrial theme.

IMG_7199

The floors have funny transitions. One of them have a grandstand kinda steps from one level to the next.

IMG_7205

She have a flight to catch in the evening so we left for dinner at Ming Chung near Farrer Park for their noodles. The place was packed!

IMG_7235

Next to Mustafa! Never go to Mustafa on a Sunday night. In fact, don't go to Mustafa. At all.

why do people stash stuff...

because when you stumble upon them years later, you'll be glad that you didn't throw em away.

IMG_7170

circa 99, just before I went into national service. I can still remember looking at these neoprints why lying on my bunk bed in Nee Soon camp. Shuyi lost the megawatti hair and way too much weight along the way. I got more grey hair. Great.

Day 10: Transit to Athens

Day 10: Transit to Athens is here.
Super short post. All I did was sleep!

IMG_5681

shuyi 7.80

The birthday present that failed to materialize.

Ian told me about etsy.com which is a pretty cool website. It's like this ebay of home made stuff. Handmade soaps, beautiful craved boxes, jewellery, knitten stuff etc. But there is one fantastic function that made it great: customization. You can bacially put down ads for things you want to be made. Anyone can pick up your job and send you a proposal. If you down with it, it's on.

Too bad my first experience with etsy.com sucked. As we did not get the 2.55 for cheap in London due to the 20% price hike (Karl! you bastard!), I decided to ask someone to knit one for her. It will be a unique bag with her name and everything. Everything is to be knit, save for a magnetic clasp.

I drew out a blueprint and put my design for bidding. I ended up with giollotadesigns (mega bitch) whose bid was actually on the high side. Going by the mantra of 'you get what you paid' I decided to deal with her.

The agreement was done months in advance. I kept emailing her but the reply will take weeks. Then when time drew closer to the dateline, we started correspondence. Anyway, long story short, though she claimed that we have more than enough time, she did not finish it in time. And came out with all kinds of excuses to blame me.

Anyway, enough of bitchin'. Here are how it would have looked like

the chain (the metal chain, not the metal + leather type)
I wanted to do a 2.55, not a classic flap.

The burgundy inner liner which will feature the 3D CC logo and 'shuyi 7.80'

The thread for the bag

The clasp which will have a magnetic clasp sewn in.

It would have been great. But shuyi ended up presentless for this years birthday. Now I know why Americans hate Canadians so much. Sorry wifey.
